Who We Are

Matt May relocated to South Florida in the summer of 2003 from New York, where he served as the Interim Company Manager for Second Stage Theatre, the Tour Manager for the 2002 Camp Broadway summer program, and the Company Manager for the 2001 national tour of Crazy For You.  In addition, he spent time as an Assistant Treasurer at the Daryl Roth Theatre, home of De La Guarda, and at Writers and Artists and The Gage Group talent agencies.  In South Florida, he worked in theatre administration at New World School of the Arts in Miami for two school years before spending the 2005-2006 season as the Director of Education for Broadway Across America throughout Florida.  He has also served as the substitute company manager for the national tour of Mamma Mia!

As an independent producer, Matt has produced benefit productions of Little Shop of Horrors and Nunsense for CURE Childhood Cancer Association and produced and directed the world premiere of Tuesday’s Child, all in New York.  The founder and producer of Verve Central Productions, in South Florida he produced and directed the world premiere of Still Untitled, a new play, in Fort Lauderdale; Embrace!, a benefit concert for the Matthew Shepard Foundation at the Lincoln Theater in Miami Beach; and Footloose and Barry Manilow’s Copacabana at American Heritage School of Boca/Delray, where he led the theatre arts program for two years.  Additional South Florida directing credits include Crazy Mary (Main Street Players, Miami Lakes), Twelve Angry Jurors (Delray Beach Playhouse), and I Hate Hamlet (Tamarac Theatre of Performing Arts).

Special event and production consulting services have been provided for companies such as Thomson-Reuters, FAME Information Services, Teambonding, The Miami Jewish Film Festival, The Miami Gay Men’s Chorus, Winter Party Festival, Stonewall Street Festival & Parade Wilton Manors, FL, The Katonah-Lewisboro School District, and private firms and individuals throughout Florida and New York.

May is a panelist for The Carbonell Awards and a member of the Theatre League of South Florida.  He holds his Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Arts from Nova Southeastern University and two Bachelor of Arts degrees: Theater Arts and Arts Administration from the State University of New York at Fredonia.  He is currently an instructor at Broward College, and a private coach, specializing in college audition and essay preparation, throughout South Florida.

As an actor, favorite stage credits include Into the Woods, Little Shop of Horrors, The Music Man, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
