Matt May relocated to South Florida in the summer of 2003 from New York, where he served as the Interim Company Manager for Second Stage Theatre, the Tour Manager for the 2002 Camp Broadway summer program, and the Company Manager for the 2001 national tour of Crazy For You. In addition, he spent time as an Assistant Treasurer at the Daryl Roth Theatre, home of De La Guarda, and at Writers and Artists and The Gage Group talent agencies.
As an independent producer, Matt has produced benefit productions of Little Shop of Horrors and Nunsense for CURE Childhood Cancer Association and produced and directed the world premiere of Tuesday’s Child, all in New York. In South Florida, he produced and directed the world premiere of Still Untitled, a new play, in Fort Lauderdale; Embrace!, a benefit concert for the Matthew Shepard Foundation at the Lincoln Theater in Miami Beach; and Footloose and Barry Manilow’s Copacabana at American Heritage School of Boca/Delray, where he also served as the theatre arts instructor for two years. A member of the Board of Directors for Creative Arts Enterprises in Miami, Matt worked in theater administration at New World School of the Arts in Miami for two school years before spending the 2005-2006 season as the Director of Education for Broadway Across America throughout Florida.
Matt holds his Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Arts from Nova Southeastern University and two Bachelor of Arts degrees; Theater Arts and Arts Administration from the State University of New York at Fredonia. He is a member of the Theatre League of South Florida.
As an actor, favorite stage credits include Into the Woods, Little Shop of Horrors, The Music Man, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
